There has been a Great White Egret down at Pennigton Marshes for a few weeks now. On this day the light was very good and he was catching loads of 3 spined sticklebacks. I have to choose this image because you can see the fish so clearly even though there were some photos with great reflections as well.
We seem to be holding on to the colours a bit longer than usual here in the New Forest. Earlier with the dry weather the leaves were just going brown but now with a bit of moisture we are getting the lovely yellows and golds of the beech and oak leaves.
Found this white buck in the New Forest this afternoon. I wonder how many white fawns there will be next April. This is the second white buck of similar size I’ve seen in the area as the photographs I got last week definitely show very different antlers.
Today I had the chance to photograph a couple of little owls sheltering from the north wind and enjoying the winter sun.
There’s been a Great White Egret at Pennington Marshes for a week or two now and with today’s light winds it was very obliging whilst catching sticklebacks for lunch. I’ve included a comparison to a little egret for those that are less familiar with the birds.
